A/V + 거니와 - not only A/V but also

A/V + 거니와 - not only A/V but also
[A/V + 았/었거니와 for something that's done already]

Similar use with: A/V + 는데

Acknowledging the first sentence and adding more info on the second sentence.

Usually used with - or -까지 on the second sentence, in order to emphasize.

He's not only a hard worker but he's also lucky so whatever job he does he's always successful.

Not only am I sick but work is also not going well so I have no will (for doing anything)

This pattern can also be used when we want to repeat something already said or to explain something again.

To say it once more, you should not be late tomorrow!
